COVENTRY: An East Pace Avenue woman reported July 25 a semi-automatic pistol was stolen from her bedroom closet. Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies entered information about the firearm into a national database for stolen weapons. She also told deputies her ex-boyfriend has been harassing and threatening her via social media. Deputies contacted the Victory Street man, who stated the woman had been contacting him. Deputies advised them to have no contact with each other and suggested the woman to obtain a civil protection order. The owner of a Ethan Allen Road rental home reported July 26 the tenant sublet the residence to his daughter, who sold the refrigerator online and has listed his other appliances for sale. He declined charges and stated he is in the process of evicting the family. On July 27, a Radnor Avenue woman stated video surveillance from the outside of her home showed two men wearing head lamps approach her front door, going to an upstairs balcony and knocking on a door and were outside for 90 minutes. Deputies investigated a July 28 report that a wallet was stolen from a vehicle parked on West Ingleside Drive. Someone attempted to use the victim’s credit card for a purchase and tried to use a cash application to withdraw funds from the victim’s bank account. The owner of a Penguin Avenue property reported July 29 a tenant who was evicted in May abandoned a vehicle on the property. Deputies had it towed to a storage lot.

GREEN: Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a July 21 report that two catalytic converters were stolen from a recreational vehicle on Cottage Grove Road. A South Arlington Road woman reported July 22 cash and credit cards were stolen from her wallet left in a vehicle. Employees of an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road gas station reported July 23 a man had been in the restroom for a half hour. He exited, looking disoriented, and deputies located him sitting outside by an ice machine. Deputies noticed a hypodermic needle in his pocket and confiscated it along with a bag of marijuana he reportedly admitted placing on top of the machine. He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and marijuana. A Starview Drive woman reported July 24 she received a phone call from a man who claimed to work for an online payment service and stated she needed to clarify information about her account. Following the call, she noticed fraudulent charges totaling $1,300 in her bank account. Deputies had a vehicle abandoned on Interstate 77 towed to an impound lot July 27. A South Main Street man reported July 27 someone used his personal information to open a bank account in his name and obtain a debit card. A Mayfair Road woman reported a solicitor came to her door in March and attempted to persuade her to change her internet provider. The solicitor entered her information into an electronic tablet, but the woman declined the service. On July 27, she received a bill for $214 even though she never authorized the service. The property manager of a Massillon Road apartment complex reported July 28 someone used a permanent marker to write graffiti on washing machines in the laundry room and used chalk to write a message on a sidewalk. The owner of a Tabs Drive business reported July 28 three fraudulent checks totaling $7,183 were cashed through its bank account. Deputies investigated a July 29 report of wires cut on the roof of a South Main Street medical facility, disrupting electric service. Also, a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle outside the facility.

LAKEMORE: A Brittany Boulevard woman called police July 20 to report $70 was removed from her bank account but she never received the product she thought she had paid for. Employees at a construction company reported $900 worth of copper pipes and tools were stolen from a job site on Sunrise Way July 26. A Sunny Brook Drive resident reported a package was stolen some time between July 30 and Aug. 2. Police responded to a Sixth Street residence Aug. 2 after someone reportedly siphoned gasoline from a vehicle. Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Lakeside Drive Aug. 3. The caller said her neighbor yelled at her daughter and called her a derogatory name. An Akron woman was arrested for drug possession and given a warning for trespassing after police were called to a Canton Road business Aug. 4 for a theft in progress. All the items the woman allegedly stole were returned. A Lakemore Service Department official reported a picnic table at a Lakeside Drive park was painted over Aug. 5 some time between July 29 and Aug. 5. A Main Street man reported Aug. 6 someone cut the seat of his motorcycle.

NEW FRANKLIN: Police responded to a Swigart Road home July 24. The caller said he and another man had been in an argument that turned physical. Police later questioned the other man at his Overton Drive home, but no charges were filed due to conflicting statements. A Vanderhoof Road man was cited July 30 for failing to secure his dogs after police responded to a call that his dogs were running loose in the neighborhood. Police contacted the man, who said he was on his way home to secure the dogs. A Wickliffe Drive woman reported Aug. 1 someone had fraudulently withdrawn $2,603 from her bank accounts in May. The woman’s bank replaced the funds and the matter remained under investigation. A Ravenna man was arrested Aug. 4 for impaired driving and drug possession when he was pulled over on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road for speeding and swerving in his lane. Police stated the man nearly crashed while making a right hand turn onto Vanderhoof Road. He failed field sobriety tests and reportedly admitted that a substance found inside a plastic bag in the car was cocaine. The man later tested positive for cocaine in a urine test and was taken to the Summit County Jail.

SPRINGFIELD: The following incidents took place at a South Arlington Road store: on July 17 three persons were charged with trespassing and theft for stealing nearly $1,900 worth of jewelry and an Akron man and woman were arrested for theft and drug possession after they switched price tags on a BB gun and a slingshot, resulting in a $116 loss; on July 18 an Akron woman and a Pennsylvania woman were arrested for stealing nearly $130 worth of items and giving police false information and an Akron man was arrested for stealing $43 worth of clothing; on July 19 a Barberton man was arrested for stealing two power scooters valued at $696 and an Akron woman was arrested for stealing $149 worth of merchandise; on July 22 a Ravenna man was charged with theft, obstruction and drug possession; and on July 23 a Rittman woman identified as a suspect in previous crimes was arrested attempting to steal $390 in clothing, candy and picture frames and an Akron woman was seen swapping price tags on household items in a self-checkout line, resulting in a total loss of $438. A Killian Road resident reported a wheelbarrow was stolen July 16-17. The man told police he would contact them after reviewing security video. A resident reported his handgun missing July 18. The man said he put the gun on top of his car while cleaning it July 13 and later heard something hit the road while driving near Myersville and Killian roads. He stated he did not realize the gun was missing until July 14. The firearm was entered as stolen but the owner called back July 31 to report he had found it near Killian and Pressler roads. Also July 18, an Akron man was arrested for assault at an East Waterloo Road restaurant. The man reportedly pushed and verbally assaulted another customer while the customer was complaining about an order to a bartender. The man was reportedly intoxicated and admitted to pushing the other person because he did not like the way they were talking to the bartender. A Laverne Lane resident called police July 18 about a person in the mobile home park who threatened to kick her out of the park. Police advised the woman that the person does not have the authority to make her leave her home. Police responded to a South Arlington Road hotel July 18 for a possible overdose. A woman was found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle and police administered two doses of Narcan to revive her. Drug paraphernalia, a small bindle of methamphetamine and a white powdery substance were found inside the woman’s purse. She was taken to an area hospital and police seized the suspected narcotics and paraphernalia. An Oaks Drive woman reported July 18 her ex-boyfriend was harassing her via text, allegedly threatening to publish explicit photos of her if she did not respond to him. Police left a message for the man advising him to cease contact with the woman or face possible telecommunications harassment charges. A man reported his motorhome was broken into and a radio system was stolen while it was being stored at a Canton Road facility. The man added it also appeared the person had been sleeping inside the camper. A driver was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for not having a visible license plate July 19. The woman reportedly told police she did not know her Social Security number but gave officers a date of birth, which did not match the driver on record. She later admitted to giving false information. Police found approximately 12 grams of marijuana inside her car, had the car towed and gave the woman a ride to a friend’s house. Police stopped a driver on Massillon Road July 19 for having a burned-out license plate light. The Mogadore man was found to have a suspended license and was cited and his female passenger was found to have an active warrant and was turned over to Summit County sheriff’s deputies. Used hypodermic needles and glass methamphetamine pipes were found during a tow inventory and the driver was additionally charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. The owner of a Canton Road building reported two air conditioning units behind the building were destroyed July 20 after someone reportedly entered through a fence and cut the copper out of the units, which were valued at $4,000 each. A Norton woman was arrested for stealing $280 worth of electronics and outdoor equipment from a South Arlington Road store. The woman reportedly fought with an employee trying to stop her from leaving. She was also banned from the store. An Akron man was stopped July 21 for having no license plate. Police found approximately 18 grams of marijuana, a marijuana pipe with burnt residue in it and a methamphetamine pipe with burnt residue in it inside the car, along with two needles, cotton swabs, a tie off, a grinder, a torch, a bong and another methamphetamine pipe with burnt residue in it inside a female passenger’s purse. The Akron woman was cited for possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia and the man was cited for driving under suspension. An Akron man stopped for marked lane violations July 21 was found to have a warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. During a search, police found a bag containing approximately 1.2 grams of a powdered substance in the center console. The man reportedly admitted it was cocaine and was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail. A female passenger was released with no charges. An Akron woman was cited for marijuana possession July 21 following a traffic stop for a burned out headlight. Police reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle when the woman rolled down her window and approximately 60 grams of marijuana was found inside a bag on the passenger seat. The woman was given a warning for the headlight and having no visible license plate.
