No Man’s Sky has received the latest in a long line of major updates today, this time in the form of Endurance. The update focuses mostly on freighter base building, which has been completely reinvented and improved with new parts, appearances, and crews. There’s also the opportunity to recruit organic frigates, although they might not be completely reliable.

The No Man’s Sky Endurance Update 3.94 is available from today on PS5 and PS4. Freighter bases have been “completely reinvented”. Some of the new parts include stellar extractors and pre-decorated themed rooms that can just be slotted together so players can give their bases a distinct look that can still be customised. Legacy parts will still be compatible with these. Agricultural modules can turn freighters into farms, and bases can be extended beyond the hull. Doors and windows will allow players to watch the stars as they fly by. Freighters have also gotten specialist crew members like engineers, biologists, and technicians.

Civilian freighters will be pre-fitted with a variety of bases that can be modified. Procedurally-generated organic frigates can also be added to the fleet, but sending them out on missions may not get the desired results. Other assorted changes include new visual effects for black holes, new asteroids, and enhanced nebulae. There is a new Polestar expedition with a “generous array” of rewards and new Sentinel Pillar and Infestation multiplayer missions. The full patch notes can be seen below:

In other news, Bioware’s Anthem is now going for just a single cent at GameStop. Elsewhere, The Last of Us Part 1 will apparently support VRR.
