Consequently, thanks to the recently received generation update for the model year 2023, the Sequoia now gets a completely revised exterior design, better quality interiors, improved technology, and a new powerful and fuel-efficient powertrain. However, with this update, Toyota has also given this SUV a new top-of-the-line Capstone trim with exclusive features and creature comforts. This particular trim promises to make the new Sequoia a worthy replacement for the Land Cruiser and stand as a formidable rival to other premium full-size SUVs currently on sale.

With the third-generation update, the exterior design of the Sequoia has undergone a massive change relative to its previous version. This SUV now looks bold and muscular on the outside, with each trim having unique visual details. In line with this, the Capstone grade of this full-size SUV also comes with exclusive design elements that give it a much more premium and up-market appearance. For instance, at the front, we see a chrome mesh grille unique to this trim, along with chrome roof rails and chrome mirror caps. In addition, there is Capstone badging on the front doors, while it comes with new 22-inch alloy wheels that are finished in dark chrome. Adding a bit of convenience are the powered automatic running boards, which are standard on the Sequoia Capstone.
In addition to tinkering with the exterior styling of the new Sequoia to give it a more premium appearance, its Capstone grade also comes with several exclusive features on the inside. These provide an added layer of luxury to this full-size SUV's cabin. For instance, the Sequoia Capstone gets semi-aniline leather upholstery on all its seats, even the third row, which offers a 60:40 split. The same upholstery is also found on the front and rear assist grips. Furthermore, there are Capstone exclusive floor mats as well. Not only this, but the cabin also comes with Dark American Walnut Woodgrain trim pieces.
Adding another layer of convenience for the occupants of the 2023 Sequoia Capstone is its 10-way power adjustable driver and front-passenger seats which also come with 4-way adjustable lumbar support. In addition, this engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, which allows it to deliver higher fuel-efficiency figures along with the hybrid system. The Sequoia Capstone is available in 2WD and 4WD configurations.
EPA has rated the two-wheel drive configuration of this SUV for 21 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway, with a combined rating of 22 MPG. At the same time, its four-wheel drive configuration is rated to deliver 19 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway, with a combined rating of 20 MPG.
In addition, the 2023 Sequoia Capstone also offers impressive towing capability, as it is rated to tow up to 8980 pounds. Furthermore, it comes standard with a Tow Haul mode that adjusts the transmission settings to allow this SUV to tow trailers more efficiently.
