Officers made an arrest near the police station after a glass door there was smashed late Tuesday, Aug. 9, Guelph Police Service said in a news release.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., a female attended the police station and allegedly attempted to open the sliding glass doors, which were locked. Police said she kicked the doors several times before removing a hammer from her backpack and using it to strike the door frame and automatic door opener, damaging both. She then allegedly used the hammer to smash the glass door.

This was reportedly heard by officers working inside and a female was immediately arrested.

The 40-year-old Guelph woman is charged with mischief under $5,000, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. She was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
