WARREN, NJ — Three suspects are wanted by police after they broke into a Warren home before fleeing when the homeowner saw them inside late Wednesday night, said authorities.

On Wednesday at 11:45 p.m., a home burglary and attempted motor vehicle thefts were reported at a home on Spencer Lane in Warren Township, said Warren Police.

Three suspects tried to enter two locked motor vehicles in the driveway before they forced their way into the garage by shattering a locked rear window, said police.

Two suspects then went into the garage and tried to steal a third motor vehicle, which was unlocked. They then went inside the home through an unlocked interior garage door where they were seen by the homeowner, said police.

The two suspects ran out of the home through the garage and then all three suspects left the area in a vehicle, said police.

An active investigation is being conducted by the Warren Township Police Department and the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force.

"We urge all residents to make sure their homes are well lit, all doors are locked, to set your alarm anytime you leave the house (if available), and monitor your camera system regularly (if available)," said Warren Police.

Warren Township has seen an uptick in home and car burglaries in the past month. Last week, someone shattered a rear sliding door to get inside.
