MILAN (Reuters) -UniCredit will significantly improve its guidance for the current year when it presents third quarter results after hitting distribution goals on 2021, the Italian bank's CEO said, expressing confidence also on next year. The upbeat comments delivered by Chief Executive Andrea Orcel at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch conference in London drove UniCredit shares up 6% by 1111 GMT, also lifting other banking shares. Orcel said UniCredit had embarked on an industrial transformation which gave it strong commercial momentum, had ample provisions to absorb new impaired loans and could more than offset any weakness in fee income thanks to rising interest rates.

U.S. startup Fisker Inc will begin selling its Ocean electric sport-utility vehicle (SUV) in India next July and could begin manufacturing its cars locally within a few years, the company's chief executive officer told Reuters. Sales of electric cars in India will gather pace by 2025-26, Henrik Fisker said in an interview in New Delhi, adding that the company wants to secure a first-mover advantage. Electric cars currently make up just 1% of India's roughly 3 million annual car sales, with insufficient charging infrastructure and high battery costs partly to blame for the slow shift.

The visionary CEO can fix problems in cars officially recalled by traffic safety authorities at the mere touch of a button. It's a "recall" by strict definition only.

The car company has run into supply constraints with the brand-name badges and the nameplates that specify the model, important identifiers for the auto maker’s products.

There's no getting around it -- 2022 has not been a good year for automakers. Stocks of all major manufacturers, whether fossil fuel or electric vehicles, are down by double-digit percentages. Automakers are finding it difficult to sell cars this year.

The blue oval brand has set itself the ambition of producing 2 million electric vehicles globally per year by the end of 2026. In 2021, the group only manufactured 27,140 electric vehicles in the United States. This means that reaching 2 million units five years later is a huge challenge even when your name is Ford, a company that has been producing and selling vehicles around the world for several decades.

Elon Musk is a disruptor, sometimes playing troublemaker just to provoke change. The richest man in the world then gave some details on this green space, which will surely stand out compared with the ultramodern headquarters of the tech giants in Silicon Valley.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cites a violation of federal safety standards for power windows, while Tesla says an online software update will fix the problem.

Ford broke ground Friday at its $5.6 billion BlueOval City complex in Tennessee, the epicenter for its future electric vehicles and a key milestone toward its goal to sell 2 million EVs annually by late 2026. BlueOval City is slated to begin building advanced batteries for future Ford and Lincoln EVs in 2025, including the F-150 Lightning and a second battery-electric pickup. “This facility is the blueprint for Ford’s future manufacturing facilities and will enable Ford to help lead America’s shift to electric vehicles,” Eric Grubb, Ford’s director of new footprint construction, said in a statement.

A South Florida Porsche dealer is suing Porsche Cars North America, alleging that the auto maker's U.S. subsidiary has violated Florida auto dealership laws.

Tesla , the electric vehicle maker, has just announced a recall of nearly 1.1 million vehicles because the power windows may close too fast and could pinch a driver or passengers. "The window automatic reversal system may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction," the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a filing dated Sept. 19. The solution at Tesla is simply a software update: "Tesla will perform an over-the-air software update of the automatic window reversal system, free of charge," the federal Agency said.

General Motors Co said on Friday it will invest $760 million at its Toledo, Ohio factory to build drive units for electric trucks, the automaker's first U.S. powertrain facility repurposed for EV-related production. Th largest U.S. automaker currently builds GM’s six-speed, eight-speed and 10-speed rear-wheel drive and nine-speed front-wheel drive transmissions in a variety of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac at its 2.82-million square foot Toledo, Ohio, transmission plan that it has renamed Toledo Propulsion Systems. "Once the plant is converted, it will produce GM’s family of EV drive units, which convert electric power from the battery pack to mechanical motion at the wheels," GM said, adding the plant will produce transmission products while building drive units simultaneously during GM’s EV transition.

STORY: Tesla’s windows appear to have a pinch problem.Elon Musk’s electric car empire is recalling nearly 1.1 million U.S. vehicles because the automatic reversal system on some windows may not react correctly when detecting an obstruction. In other words, a window that is closing may pinch a passenger before it retracts. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration -or NHTSA - said the vehicles failed to comply with the requirements of a federal motor vehicle safety standard on power windows.Tesla told NHTSA it would perform an over-the-air software update of the automatic window reversal system. The recall covers some 2017-2022 Model 3s, Model Ys from 2020-2021, and Model S and Model X vehicles from 2021-2022.The EV manufacturer said it was not aware of any warranty claims, field reports, crashes, injuries, or deaths related to the recall.

Some of these electric cars, trucks and SUVs will be available by the end of the year, and all are expected to launch by the end of 2023.

The automaker said Chief Financial Officer John Lawler would take on the additional responsibility of overseeing the makeover of its global supply chain operations until it names a new supply chain chief. The global auto industry is undergoing rapid transformation as focus shifts to electric vehicles from those powered by gasoline, driving companies such as Ford and General Motors Co to commit big investments, while redrawing their strategies to compete in the fast-emerging market. Earlier this year, Ford said its electric vehicle and internal-combustion engine units would be run as separate entities, in a move aimed at supercharging its EV business.

Exact numbers are fuzzy, but GM looks to have amassed more than 260,000 orders for its GMC Hummer and Chevy Silverado trucks.

Electric-vehicle giant Tesla is recalling vehicles for a glitch in the power windows. It can be fixed with an over-the-air software update, but the stock is down.

An investigation is underway after a little girl was almost hit by a moving vehicle last week in San Mateo, California, police said. Jison Hong was at a traffic stop on Sept. 14 when the camera on her dashboard caught a girl on a scooter nearly being struck by a dark SUV that did not stop for the girl and her family as they crossed the street.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. theft claims were nearly twice as common for Hyundai Motor and Kia Corp vehicles compared with all other manufacturers among 2015 through 2019 model-year vehicles, a non-profit group said Thursday. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) Highway Loss Data Institute said many 2015-19 model year Hyundai and Kia vehicles do not have electronic immobilizers, which prevent people from breaking in and bypassing the ignition.
