Switch EiV 22: Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle division of Hinduja group's flagship Ashok Leyland, unveiled the bus in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Switch EiV 22: India’s first and unique electric double-decker air-conditioned bus - Switch EiV 22 - was on Thursday unveiled in Mumbai. Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle division of Hinduja group's flagship Ashok Leyland, unveiled the bus in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The bus, according to the company's claim, has been designed, developed and manufactured in India.
The electric double-decker AC bus EiV22 is powered by a 231-kWh capacity battery pack with dual gun charging system which allows the bus to have a range up to 250 kms for intra-city transport, according to the company.

The new bus has a seating capacity of more than 65 passengers. It will have automatic doors and CCTV cameras.
The double-decker bus is equipped with wide front and rear doors, two staircases and an emergency door that complies with the latest safety standards.
The event was attended by Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Switch India CEO Mahesh Babu, Alternative Energy and Sustainability Initiative president Shome Hinduja and Ashok P Hinduja.

The company has secured an order of 200 electric double-decker buses in Mumbai.
