The Tesla Model X is an exciting car that offers many great features, from the coveted "Falcon Wing" rear doors to spacious family interiors.
Tesla introduced the Model X for the 2016 model as a taller and more spacious replacement for the Model S. As an all-new model, the Tesla Model X differed from other crossovers by a long shot, with its unusual hinged doors, long driving range, and awesome drive quality.
It also offered a plethora of safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, automatic pre-collision braking, as well as convenient parking sensors. Its powertrain churned up to 532 horsepower. The Tesla Model X underwent a lot of improvements throughout the years, and today, it is still one of the most-treasured electric SUVs you can find.
The Tesla Model X is undoubtedly one of the best electric SUVs ever made. We’ll dive into the price of the 2016 Tesla Model X in the used car market, and why it’s a must-have crossover.
The 2016 Tesla Model X isn't just expensive, it's among the most expensive SUVs on the used car market right now. As a completely new model, the 2016 Tesla Model X came with a starting MSRP of just less than $90,000 for the base 75D model. The brand offered the pre-option P90D model at $140,000. With all options, the Tesla Model X was priced at around $150,000.
Today, you should expect to pay between $60,700 and $71,430 for a 2016 Tesla Model X in decent condition with around 40,000 to 50,000 miles on the odometer. For a Tesla Model X with a lesser mileage, say, 10,000, you could shell out up to $88,656, with a few examples reaching the $110,340 limit.
The price also depends on the trim level and features available. The high-performance P90D model could attract a heftier price tag, especially with the wood interior trim, the Ludicrous Speed mode, the premium Upgrades Package, the Subzero Weather Package, 22-inch wheels, an advanced air suspension system, and leather-padded seats. It’s also important to take the insurance costs into account, which are typically higher for the Tesla Model X, but that will depend on the level of coverage, type of insurance, and your deductible. Since its introduction in 2016, the Tesla Model X’s appearance hasn’t changed significantly. What has changed, though, is its range and sprint time. For instance, the 2018 midlevel 100D version offered 38 extra miles of driving range over the 2016’s top-of-the-line model, which only delivered 250 miles. If you need more range, then today’s 2022 Tesla Model X is a more suitable option. It comes standard with a battery that is large enough to cover a claimed 351-mile driving range, or even better, the 2021 version, which raises the bar to 360 miles. Unlike most models, the 2016 Tesla Model X offered its users unlimited recharging on Tesla’s Supercharger network.
If you have to make a decision between a new and a used Tesla Model X (depending on its price), then you’ll find a new one more desirable. Oddly enough, the new Tesla Model X may be cheaper than a new one, if not the same. While you’ll pay up to $100,000 for a 2016 Tesla Model X in near mint condition, the newer releases, say the 2021 Tesla Model X comes at a starting price of $89,990. Keep in mind that the prices of cars in the used market are subject to unpredictable fluctuations.
